The TimeMaps project is run by TimeMaps Ltd, a British educational software publisher that took over the business of Appian Way Software Ltd in 2007. Peter Britton, who has twenty years experience of publishing history materials for the education market, runs the project. The two TimeMaps titles are The Rise and Fall of Nazi Germany and the Interactive Map of World History. Two versions of the latter are currently available, one for the 9-11 age group, and the other of the 11 to 13 age group - this edition is currently undergoing extensive revision.

TimeMaps functions as a small and streamlined operation. As many business functions as possible are sub-contracted out. All the product design and programming is done by Gooii Ltd., a Nottingham-based company consisting of highly skilled designers and programmers. TimeMaps and Gooii have been able to establish a very close and productive working relationship. The cartography has been the work of Alex Kent. He lectures in Cartography at Oxford Brooks University, and is an editor of the British Cartographical Association. A superb craftsman, his maps have been praised by all who see them. The back-office operations are sub-contracted to Lee-Capelle, where Penny Johnson keeps the day-to-day distribution and financial management running smoothly and efficiently.
